1898 Barber Dime, PCGS MS-63, Unlisted Repunched Date, RPD, You Make the Call

1898 Barber Dime, Choice Uncirculated, certified PCGS MS-63.
Two significant Obverse die chips, which seem to appear with some frequency on this date based upon my experience.  Of more interest is that I am of the opinion that this is an obvious Repunched Date (RPD),  The "9" in the date clearly appears to have a partial underdigit showing a significant displacement to the Southwest, showing as a curving line with a "ball" on the very end where the serif of a mispunched 9 would be.  There also appears to be the remnant of the downward curve of the 9 inside the curve of the main digit.  Remnants of other portions of the upper portion of a 9 may be visible but are ambiguous due to minor "bumps" in the fields caused by die wear.  This was very difficult to get a good, sharp image of, and while I had some older microphotographs taken of this, I have managed to misplace the best of them.  This coin has been seen by both Bill Fivaz and J. T. Stanton in the past, as well as others knowledgeable in the subject, and while opinions vary most agree that it does NOT appear to be a die crack or other defect.  The question is how such a RPM (or, MPD if you like) would come about as I believe the Mint had stopped using individual numeral punches in the die shop by now.  At the time I shows Bill & J. T., they suggested I send it to them for review and possible inclusion in "The Guide", however I managed to forget and only got around to certifying it some years later.  I think the coin offers the tantalizing possibility of being an unlisted RPD, however I spent a number of years looking for other specimens to try to confirm this, with no luck, which is why I have not offered it for sale before now.  I have also included an image of the article I wrote at the time for the Barber Coin Collector Society journal - a copy of this plus the enlarged photo image of the date area taken by Ken Hill will be sent along with the coin if purchased.  Due to the open question of what this might be, establishing a value is not easy, so I have "aimed high" and included a Make an Offer option.  Due to the nature of the item and the fact that I am not interested in paying for a lot of return shipping if the purchaser disagrees with my determination,
