This is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL FLAG made in the Soviet Union in 1986 with the sole purpose to use on a Soviet naval vessel – this flag is not a civilian issue, souvenir or replica!
Made in bunting, the tough coarse wool material traditionally used in Russia and Soviet Union for maritime flags. MEDIUM SIZE: measures 52" x 34" (about 4 x 3 feet.) The flag features red field with one white star and a regular naval ensign in the upper left corner. The canvas hoist sleeve has stamped GOST-81 manufacturing code and a 1986 date of manufacture.
The flag is in GREAT condition. Its colors are strong and it is practically free of the usual moth damage:  The flag is sound and clean overall. There are some faint white chalk marks visible on one side of the flag.
This uncommon Soviet "admiral" flag is from the turbulent period at the height of renewed Cold War tensions at the end of the Brezhnev’s reign, not too long after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The Soviet Navy was still going strong at the time, just before the final spiraling down of the Soviet empire. This flag can be a great conversation piece. Its medium size makes it convenient for an impressive wall display.
