    Description

Soviet Flag of a Naval Auxiliary Vessel, in wool bunting, circa 1960s-70s issue.
This is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL FLAG made in the Soviet Union with the exclusive purpose to use on a Soviet naval (military) vessel – this flag is not a post-Soviet issue, souvenir or replica!
Made in bunting, the tough coarse wool material traditionally used in Russia and Soviet Union for maritime flags. The flag consists of a navy-blue field with a regular naval ensign in the upper left corner, which designates any naval auxiliary vessel – such as an oiler, tugboat, or “research ship” (usual Soviet disguise for a spy vessel). The flag comes in easy to display MEDIUM SIZE: measures approximately 40" x 25" (slightly over 3 x 2 feet.)  Shows maker mark "Galantereynaya Factory" on the canvas hoist sleeve. As is often the case, there is no date of manufacture. Judging by its details, the flag is a relatively early one, probably made no later than 1970s and possibly as early as the early 60s.
The flag is in GOOD overall condition. The flag shows some small moth nips and tiny holes, mostly near the top, but none of them are very detractive considering the overall size of the flag. There is no active moth infestation. This very uncommon flag is perfectly clean and will display nicely.
